I'm Sally Swanson, a Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Durham, North Carolina. I integrate several therapeutic methods, depending on your specific needs. My focus is on family transitions, end-of-life care, bereavement, grief, and times of crises due to loss and sudden change.
My background is in women's health, adolescent reproductive health, HIV prevention. I hold masters degrees in Social Work and Public Health from UNC, Chapel Hill.
I practice patient-centered therapeutic care with empathy, compassion and in a non-judgmental space. It is the difficult life transitions that can often leave us feeling lost, anxious, depressed and are the focus of my practice
I work with individuals experiencing relationship challenges, grief and loss, and difficulty coping with life transitions. My approach to treatment is tailored to what is unique and specific to you and I draw from a variety of therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness.. Anxiety is the most common mental health issue in the United States, and it is not uncommon for someone with anxiety to also suffer from depression. Multiple factors can lead to both anxiety and depression, including stressful life events, trauma, loss, major life transitions, unexpressed feelings, genetics, and/or unresolved experiences from childhood.
